Happy New Year!!!!!!!

I am so loving my new life!

Jaquie & Bill (That's my Mom & Dad) take me out to visit friends.  I even get to sleep on their friends couches when we go visiting.

Every afternoon Bill has a nap and I get to go have a nap with him!  Jaquie says if it's one o'clock I pick up my stuffie and head toward the bedroom!  She says I'm settling into our daytime routine just great!!

I like hanging out in the kitchen when Jacquie is making something to eat.  She says I'm a very smart, and curious boy!  I can walk right up on my hind legs and I stand right up and get a look at what she is doing on the counter!  It always smells so good!!!

Jaquie and Bill are really, really proud of me!  They tell everyone all about me!!

Jaquie says I'm more relaxed now... actually she says I snore when I'm sleeping!  We have a clock that gongs on the hour and at first I barked when I heard it at night... now I don't hear it at all!!

I wish they didn't baracade the spiral staircase going upstairs... I really liked it up there!

Jaquie says it's polite to wish people you love "Happy New Year"!  So HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you!

My foster Mom, Sarah, Holly & TOLA are going to come for tea after the new year!!!!  I'll get them to take some pictures for all of you!!!!!!!!

I had a lovely Christmas day,  Jaquie and Bill (that's my Mom & Dad) had friends in for a Christmas Brunch and they brought their Grandson, Amedeo, who is six with them.  He brought me a red ball with a sqeekie in it, I love it.  and I taught Amedeo how to play with it,  he throws it and then comes to get it, I think he thought I would take it tooo him....silly guy.... I also got a lovely rabbit toy and I carry it everywhere I go....  I look out of my big glass window and do not see people but see what Jaquie (My Mama :))  calls squirrels and birds. she says that it is OK that they are there but I bark at them anyway.  I have been very good at going outside, Jaquie gets so excited when I do and makes such a fuss, it is nice to see her so happy and I get a treat so it is all worth while so I will try to do ìt`all the time.  Today we are going to friends for lunch and it was nice of them to invite me....I will be very good...I will take my red ball and rabbit just to see if some one will play if not I will have my usual afternoon nap.  Jaquie and Bill are so proud of me....they had lots of `phone calls from family and friends yesterday and they told everyone about me and have invited them to visit and meet me.  I had an adventure a couple of days ago ....I climbed up the circular stairs all by myself and the slept on the guestroom bed...then Bill came and helped me down....there is now a barrier at the bottom which makes it impossible for me to venture up..oh well.....  thankyou for thinking about me...be safe and keep in touch.

A bit about my first couple of days.... of my new life!

I spent a good part of the afternoon yesterday snuggled up on a chair with my Dad.  Do you know how good it feels to say that??  "My Dad"!!!  :)

I slept on the foot of my parents :) bed while they watched TV and then snuggled down in my own little bed at 9:00 pm.

My Mom woke me up at 7:00 when she came into the kitchen to make coffee.. I yawned and stretched and patiently waited for her to get me ready for our morning walk. 

We have this long winding driveway.  It is absolutely covered in snow.  The branches of the trees that line the laneway are hanging with the weight of the snow and today even though there is still snow falling, the sun is peeking through and the flakes look like diamonds floating through the air.  We walk up that long laneway in the morning to pick up the morning paper!  My Dad loves to read the paper!!!  So it's one of my jobs to go get it with my Mama!!  If I ever get my paws on it.. snicker.. snicker.. I just might show him how I read the paper!!!  Anyways, my firsts for today is that I pooped while on my leash!!   You might think I must have done that already... but at my old house we went out and ran around the fenced backyard first thing in the morning.. so when we went for our walk after breakfast I had already taken care of all those things!!  My Mama was pretty proud of me I must say!  :)

This morning I'm snuggled down with my Mama!!  Remember I told you that she is knitting me a sweater jacket?!?!   Well I'm trying to help her!  Whenever the ball of wool rolls a bit as she knits.. I grab it for her!!!  Mama says it might take a bit longer to knit the sweater than she thought...  I'm not sure why?  I'm doing the best I can to help her out with that!

Ohhhhhh!  I saw my first rabbits!!  Three of them!!  Right in our backyard.  Yes can you imagine!  There is SO much entertainment right from my little bed by the window.  I got so excited ... well maybe over excited.  I've never seen a rabbit before.. let alone three of them at once like that!!  Well my Mama ended up putting a big towel over the window and then she squeaked my squeaky and I redirected my energy into making that guy sqeak and squawk!! 

Oh, life is good!

I'm off for a nap!  Oh it's true.. it's one of my favourite things...

My first night....

So... I had a really good first night!!  After dinner, which I ate.. :) :)  I slept on the foot of the bed till 9:00 pm.. then I got in my new bed.. it was so cozy, warm and soft.. I scratched at the door and grumbled a bit.. (I would have rather stayed in the bed.. Sigh!) but I settled down quickly and I slept all night..

And.. guess what?  My new Mama gets up "before" the sun!!!  She stole my heart already.. I'll tell ya :) :)   She certainly has...and, I was so pleasantly surprised to get up so early!

I still can't believe I have my own house and count them... Two.. Yes "Two" Humans who love me!!

I've got so much exploring to do today!!

I'm in my new home!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in my new house!  Look there is already a cozy bed for me in front of the patio door... and you should see out that door... SO many squirrels and lots of birds.....

Can you see the bird feeders and all the snow.. and the water?  I'm going to love the water in the summer!!!!!!!  I can't wait to go frog hunting!!!

I'm just checking to see if their are other Westie's hiding in there......

That's my new Mama holding me!!!  I can tell she loves me already!!!

I've been a buzy, buzy little guy....

Hi Everyone..  Every night when I go to bed.. I think about all of you and I'm sorry I have not been finding the time to let you know how I've been doing... There's been a lot going on.

My sleep over went very well.  I slept in the same bed as a cat named Willy!!!!  I've never met a cat before!!!  BB's snoring scared me but I got along with her pretty good.  I slept down at the foot of the bed though.

I was really happy when my Mom picked me up and I've been following her around the house pretty closely since I got back!!!

You should see all the White Stuff on our street now.  If it wasn't for my red jacket when we went for a walk today... Mom said she would have thought the leash was pulling itself along the street.

I met a really nice lady and Man yesterday.  They don't have any kids and they'd really like me to be their "Furry Kid"!!!!!!!  The lady took me for a walk on our block and I showed her how nicely I walk!

The good thing.. Mom says... is that they don't live very far away from where I live now.. so we could visit and Tola and Holly could come over for play dates.. and we could go to the same Dog Park sometimes!

Mom got this idea the other day .. that local people would probably be interested in meeting me if we had some way to get the word out there that I was here!!  It all happened pretty fast.. so that's what I mean when I say I've been buzy.  Some newspaper people came to see us and took some pictures of Angus, Monty and I... and now we are local celebrities!!!!!

If the weather is good tomorrow Mom says I can go to visit this nice lady and man and see if their house would be a good furever home for me!!  I'm SOOOO excited.  So is Mom cause she really likes them..  What does Bitter-Sweet mean?  Mom says that's what it is.  She was all teary when she told me that!!!!

Gotta go check out the blue blinking light going down our road!!

Well...  I'm on a sleep-over for tonight and tomorrow night!   Remember Angus?  He's the one with the Blue Harness in the pictures at the top of the Blog.  He was at the Mill with Monty, Freedom and I.  We got to know each other on the long drive from Missouri and since then too because he comes over for dinner and we go to the Dog Park together.  Angus is a super guy!  We nicknamed him "Sir-Peesalot because he still likes to mark everywhere in the 'house'.  Anyways, he's staying with my Mom and I'm at his house ....camping out with his new Dad and his new sister a Pug girl called BB.   This is BB------>>

Just thought I'd give you the visual of her so you could get the idea of the snorting I'm going to be listening to tonight!!  ;)  Actually.. BB's a pretty nice girl.  She's about 3.75 years old and she likes hanging out with Westies!!

My Mom thought it would be a good idea to see how I liked it in a different house. ... Make sure you come back because I'll be sending along updates.

A few Human words I have learned...

It is pretty hard to learn a new language.. but I've figured out some of your words...

• Logan - That's me!!!!!!!
• TOLA - That's my Foster Brother ;) (His name is actually Ami-TOLA - Mom says it means Special Friend.  We have a love-hate relationship.. but mostly I'd be happy if he didn't ever growl cause I misinterpret what he means by it sometimes.. it's just another language.)
• Holly - That's my Foster Sister :) (Everybody loves Holly :))
• Outside - That where we go first thing in the morning, and after breakfast, and after we sleep, and after dinner... and anytime we just want to run around out there!  Oh Well.. that's where we mark our territory and I learned this pretty fast... it's a great place to Poop.  I do that first thing every morning ;)
• Are you Hungry?  -  That means we are going to get some yummy food!
• Chicken Strips!!!! - Always said in a loud pitched voice... that means we are going to get the best yummy treat!!!!
• Squeaky!!! - That's my favourite toy
• Do you want it?  - That's what they say when we are playing fetch.. and I LOVE that game!!!
• Up-Up - That's what Mom says when she is going to pick me up
• Sarah - Everybody runs to look out the window when this is said

I'm also learning "WALK" - mostly though I know it's walk time by my harness, leash and coat.. but I'm just beginning to associate the word.  It always gets my attention cause Holly barks like crazy when she hears that word.

I'm getting good at reading body language too and I'm learning how to show my own!  I've heard this Westie-tude word a few times.. I think it's pretty cute.

Mostly.. I'm loving my life right now..

40th Day of Freedom

Ok so... I figured out that it has been about 1,780 days since I was born.  Out of all those days.. I have now been free for 40!!!!

I think I've learned a lot in those 40 days!!  Best of all I've learned..

• how to play
• how to run
• how to keep a watch on the neighborhood
• I've seen birds (inside and out) and the inside one says "Are you okay?" (and a whole lot of other things - he freaked me out at first.. now I'm used to him)
• that squeakies are 'the' best toy in the world
• to give kisses and that I like getting them back too!!!!
• that food is wonderful
• that I never have to worry about food or the lack of it ever again
• that there is plenty of water in the world
• what "Are you hungry"? means (and I always am.. and that I'm going to get some yummy food)
• that I actually love humans
• that the sight of my harness, leash and coat mean it's time to go for a walk
• that if I'm out back.. I just have to look in the window and someone lets me back in where it's nice and warm
• oh... and that I can mark my territory outside any time I want and that it is frowned upon if it is done in the house (I hardly ever do that anymore unless all the Westie boys come over to visit then there is a bit of competition) 
• that I can go outside whenever I want
• that it's great fun to bark at squirrels and cats and to chase them in the backyard :)
• that I love my face being touched and my tummy rubbed oh and I love back stratches :)
• that I love my coat being brushed and I also like the taste of my toothpaste and I even let Mom clean my teeth
• that walks are super fun and Dog Parks are even better
• that Sarah and Monty live across the street and if I watch out the window .. I'll see them walking to the bus stop for that big yellow bus in the morning.. (yes I know what a bus is too)
• that snow is fun to roll in :)
• that if Tola and I sit on the table by the window and watch when Mom goes out... she 'always' comes back and is SO happy to see us
• that when it gets dark at night.. it's okay cause we get to cuddle on the couch
• that when lights go on and off suddenly it's okay too... I figured out that Mom does it
• that when the fireplace comes on it's a good thing because it's an excellent place to lay and get all warmed up
• that the "Westies' who hide in the house are a lot friendly now then when I first arrived.. (I think they like me now)
• that if Tola growls at me.. Mom tells him NO (he was having a bit of trouble sharing Mom with me but I think we've worked all that out now)
• that Tola and Holly are pretty fun to play with. .. well I mostly wrestle with Tola.. Holly gets pretty excited when it's time to play fetch with stuffies.  We are always frisky when we come in from outside and it's fun to roll around the floor and wrestle..  Holly doesn't wrestle.. but she's a girl... Monty doesn't wrestle either though.. he's a lot like Holly.  Oh.... Angus likes to wrestle too!!  I really like Angus too!

There are SO many things I can't think of them all right now!  Best of all I LOVE it in the 'house'.

Oh, I also wanted to tell you last night I figured out how to open the door on my bed... and I snuck out and climbed into the big bed... hehehe  I lay on Mom's feet and kept them warm.

Mom says she has never seen anyone who takes a treat as gently as I do!

My tail is up wagging a lot more lately and that makes me a pretty happy guy,

New Strategies....

Ohhh.. nothing better than a nice long nap on the couch beside the fireplace on a cold, damp day... and with your Mom patting you while you sleep..and wake... and sleep again......  it's our new strategy and we are both enjoying it...

Strategy for what you say?  ;)  Ok so.. one of the hard things for me is waking up startled.. not knowing where I am.. jumping to attention.. wanting to protect myself....

Mom says .. if we do this every day  ...  I will get used to her hands touching me while I sleep and as I wake up, And....   eventually that is what I will dream about! And, ... that is what I will thinking of and looking for when I wake up!!  We'll just smother out those old memories and enjoy our time working on making new memories!!!!

Last night we tried something new too...   Ok so, since I figured out that I'm not particularly happy about bedtime because I want to be in the big bed too.. I've really been hooting it up when Mom puts me to bed.  I figure if I don't let up she'll come and get me and take me to bed with her!!  Well, she doesn't.. she's been trying to teach me this new word.. called "Consistency".. I don't think I want to learn about it!  

Anyways, here's what we did last night....  Mom let me take a squeaky toy to bed.  I was pretty excited about that.. but as soon as I realized I still had to stay in my bed.. I started hooting it up again... BUT.. I didn't keep at it as long as usual cause I kept looking at that squeaky toy and groaning and I finally gave in and played with it .. making him squeak like crazy .. and then I fell asleep!  And the first thing I thought about this morning was that squeaky guy... I grabbed him and bounced right out of my bed!

Well, back to my nap!

I had a great day!! :)

Well.. we had company today!  Angus & BB ( 3.5 yr old pug) and Monty of course!  We also had human company.  Dylan turned 16 so my Mom made dinner and Dylan's Mom and her other kids were there too (three of them) ... and Sarah & Aydan & Jim... well you get the point.. it was hectic.

We - all us Westie types and BB ate first.  (We always eat first :))  That's one of our rules.  I really like that rule!!

Anyways I'm tired from all our running around the house.. but I really just wanted to say we all had a great time and I feel good!

Ohhhh.... Well when Sarah went to leave she couldn't find her cell phone... that's cause I took it downstairs and put it with the squeaky toys down there. ;);)  Sarah said I left some slober on it......
